Not with a self-charging SHS model — it recovers energy under braking and from the engine, so it never needs to be plugged in. Plug-in hybrid (SHS-P) models can be charged to maximise their electric-only range, but will still drive as a self-charging hybrid if you choose not to.
How does a hybrid help lower emissions?
By blending electric drive with an efficient engine, a hybrid uses less fuel and produces lower CO2 than a comparable petrol-only SUV, especially in town and stop-start traffic where the electric motor does more of the work.
