SHS Hybrid FAQs
What’s the difference between a Self Charging Hybrid and a Plug-in Hybrid?
Both our SHS-H (Self Charging Hybrid) and our SHS-P (Plug-In Hybrid) use the same Dedicated Hybrid Engine. All that differs is the size of the battery. The SHS-H has a 1.83kW battery while the SHS-P starts with 18.4kW. So the SHS-P can travel further on EV power than the SHS-H, but the SHS-H offers a lower entry price and is ideal for those that will not charge often.
Do hybrids need charging?
This is where our SHS system really stands out. Even our SHS-P Plug-in hybrids can self charge, so will never fully deplete. So you get to enjoy the reduced running costs and instant torque from the electric drivetrain.
What is the lifespan of a hybrid battery?
All of our high voltage batteries are covered by our 8 year, 100,000 mile warranty. All our used cars come with a battery test certificate too.
Do hybrids have the same residual values as traditional cars?
Absolutely — our range achieves impressive residual values, and if you buy using our range of PCP finance options, the future value is guaranteed.
Are hybrid cars cheaper to run?
Yes — hybrids of any sort will achieve better efficiency than pure petrol models. If you are able to charge regularly, then the SHS-P will be cheapest. If charging is not always available then the SHS-H is best.
Is an electric car suitable for long journeys?
They can be, depending on the journey length and infrastructure when you get there. With 3-pin charging available at 3.3kW and up to 110kW with DC rapid charging, you can top up on the go. If you prefer to have the peace of mind, our SHS-P offers the best of both worlds, with up to 93 miles of EV range and up to 745 miles total range.
